I.      MR. HALL'S CLASS JOURNAL GUIDELINES

A.   For this class you will need a paper folder with pockets and brads. Your folder will be brought  to class daily and kept for the complete semester.

B.    Journals will be graded upon request. Keep them current; I will not warn you as to when they are due. Journal grades are equal to a test grade. Late grades - 10 pts. if late the due date, 20 pts. for one day, 30 for two days, etc.

C.    Journal contents:

1.     Front Pocket - this sheet (Journal Guidelines/Grade Sheet).

2.     Back Pocket - all handouts, worksheets, or anything given to you by me. The back pocket should be in chronological order with the oldest material on the bottom and the most recent on top. Put a heading on all entries. This section of your journal is worth 20% of the journal grade.

3.     Center Section - This section is worth 40% of your journal grade. This section will be used for the daily bellringer and class notes.You should have a daily entry completed immediately after the tardy bell. Each entry must be dated. Each entry must make sense. Begin a new page for each entry and don’t write on the back.

II.    Academic Expectations  

A.   Materials required - Textbook, Journal, & Pen or Pencil. Map colors when required.

B.    No late work and  make-up work due to absence will be due the following day.

III.  Behavioral Expectations

A.   30% of  your six weeks grade is based on “classroom participation”. This grade starts at 100 at the beginning of each six weeks and violations of behavioral and academic expectations will result in the loss of points.

B.    Act like an adult (you’ll be treated like an adult)

C.    Refrain from food and drink in the classroom.

IV.  Six Weeks Grading Formula

     40% - Tests, Journal, and Special Projects
     30% - Homework
     30% - Classroom participation
